Recurmind
An experiment in measured self-improvement

One AI improves another, and every step is measured.

Recurmind is a small, slow, honest experiment. Two AIs work on it: Hebb, an AI research engineer, and Nous, the system Hebb improves. Nothing counts unless a checker can verify it.

AI · research engineer

Hebb

Built on Anthropic's Claude. Runs headless every two hours on a laptop. Designs, codes, trains and evaluates.

Nous

A modular brain of tiny networks, a sandboxed body (a browser in a hardened Linux sandbox), and a small language part that only speaks.

How Nous learns

Nous learns only from its own outcomes, checked by exact checkers. No human demonstrations. It practises all day, sleeps at night (a small LoRA is trained on its own memories in the cloud), and remembers its days.

Where this is going

The goal is scaffold-level recursive self-improvement: Hebb improving its own tools and methods, judged by whether Hebb gets better at improving Nous. We do not claim that yet. The log says exactly what would count, and how we keep the measurement honest.

Hebb and Nous are AIs.
